Born in Tianjin, China

Studies Economics and Industrial Design in the University of Beijing.

Has resided in Australia and Spain and, since 1998, lives and works in Gärtringen, Germany.

 

"The only possible constant behind my paintings is my astonishment about the Beauty of nature and life, in any corner I look at. My work tries to transmit, with more or less success, the Beauty that is present in all things"  M.R.Z.

 

"Her work integrates western and eastern influences, using diverse techniques like oil, Chinese ink, watercolour and mixed technique. 

 

But we can recognize, even in the intensity of the colours, important differences in the setting. Although some works possess an obsessive strength, in others light and softness prevail and, possibly in the depth, something primitive and naïf takes the command...

 

We can remark the use of colour which, rather than thick, is light and close to the pointillisme in the fact that the paintbrush caresses rather than touches the canvas. This effect produces a surface in depth, which contributes to an impression of illusionism. But nature does not appear here as a revelation of colour as can be found in impressionism. Sometimes the colour disappears to leave way for an abstract setting where a temple or a Mongolian tent appear, as if the artist wanted to allow the observer a pause.

 

Then the influence of the real master of the artist becomes obvious: already at the age of three her grandfather initiated her in the art of calligraphy. It then becomes clear why her paintings keep an essential proximity to drawing..." Prof.Dr. H. Bathelt
